Is Zimac a subscription?
No. The Zimac app is a one-time $49 license per computer, after a 30-day free trial. Model usage is separate: bring your own API key, or buy prepaid proxy credits that land as org budget.
Where does my data live?
On your Mac. Zimac and Mnema are local-first: memory, notes, and people live on your machine, secrets sit in the macOS Keychain, and there is no server-side copy of your data. Only model calls leave the device — direct to your provider or through the Zimac proxy.
Do I need an account?
Not to use Zimac or Mnema — bring your own model key and nothing else is required. A free Zimac account adds the proxy: per-seat tokens, org budgets, team invites, and billing from one page.
What is Mnema?
Mnema is a free, formally verified memory engine that runs on your Mac. Every LLM and agent you use can share it over an HTTP API or the Model Context Protocol, and its Pensieve window shows a living map of your memory. It is the same engine that powers Zimac.
How does proxy billing work?
Prepaid and enforced. Pay $20 through Stripe and it lands as $20 of proxy budget across your org, debited on every call per seat and per org pool — no surprise bill, and no card details on Zimac.AI servers.
